Our standard

Our standards

What we follow, where it comes from, and what our tools do and do not say.

The standard

Every Byesar project, WeNabe included, follows one written standard, which we call the ECS. It records which published rulings we have chosen to follow in our own work as a publisher. It is not a fatwa, and it does not rule on what is halal for other people.

On WeNabe it shows up as the exclusions listed on How we list. Founders and employers declare against them, and a person checks every listing before it goes live.

Sources

Each rule rests on a published ruling. We follow Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen where scholars differ, and take the cautious line in our own business.

We are re-reading each ruling against its published text and will mark it here as we go. If we have got one wrong, tell us and we will correct it within 14 days.

How our checking works

Software can look at an organisation’s public website and list what it finds that may match one of our exclusions, with the exact words and where they were found. That is all it does. It gives no verdict, no score, and never says a site is approved.

  • Matched: a fact was found that matches a point, with where.
  • No match found: nothing was found for that point. This is not a pass.
  • No published ruling: our sources are silent on it.
  • Needs human review: unclear, so a person reads it.

AI may screen and flag. It never publishes or rejects anything on its own; a person decides, every time.

What this is not

Listings meet our exclusions. That is not a ruling on what is halal; decide for yourself, with your own scholar if you wish. Questions or corrections: contact us.
